WGPX Series models are not waterproof and damage to the unit will result if the unit is exposed to moisture.

Model WGPX-550 only plays MP3 files. It will not play iTune or copyright protected song files.

GPS units operate on UTC time. UTC is the Universal Coordinated Time or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Your local time is behind or ahead of Universal time depending on where you are in relation to Greenwich, England. WGPX 500 and 600 series models, go to the main menu and select "Localization" and under the time zone column select the proper time zone.
GPS receivers do not adjust for daylight savings since the GPS satellite circle the globe and can be received anywhere on earth. Daylight savings selection is also available in the Localization menu.

You can expect horizontal accuracy of 16' to 45' (5m to 15m) in good reception conditions. For altitude you can expect accuracy +/- 105' (35m) for 20 parallel channel units in good reception conditions. There are a number of environmental conditions that can affect GPS accuracy due to varying satellite signal reception conditions and can therefore lead to better or worse accuracy than listed above.

The external antenna jack provides connection for an active external GPS antenna. WGPX Series models requires a male MMCX connector.

Depending on how you are using the unit, your average battery life will be between 3 and 6 hours. Using the GPS in a poor location, having the backlight on or using the MP3 player [WGPX-550 only] will decrease battery life.

Sorry, model WGPX-550 can only run one application at a time, meaning you can only play MP3 files or use the GPS but not both at the same time.

Make sure that the music files placed on the SD card are MP3 and not WMA or other file types. iTunes files will not play as well.

WGPX-550 model can display JPG type files only. The unit will not recognize bmp, tiff or other file types.

Generally, a satellite will be weak if it is very low on the horizon. This means the radio signal has further to travel and is more likely to bounce off of obstructions such as buildings. Satellites less than 5 degrees above the horizon are ignored because they are too unreliable.

Performing the Cold Start function clears the unit's memory of old satellite information. Under normal operating conditions, the last satellite lock computed before the unit was turned off is stored into memory and will be used as the reference the next time the unit is turned on. Also, if you travel for more than 500 miles with it turned off, it will still have the reference point but it may be too inaccurate to be useful and result in longer time to get a satellite lock. In this case you may want to perform a cold start. If a Cold Start is necessary tap on "Settings" and "GPS Reset".

Select "Photo" from the main menu. Select the image from the right window that you want to view and it will be shown in the left window. Double tap the image in the right window or press the magnifying glass button. This will simply show only the image. Use the Zoom In or Zoom Out buttons to adjust the image size. To return to the photo viewer screen, double tap the image again or use the magnifying glass button. To view the next image use the direction buttons left or right control.

WGPX-550 model can only display files saved in a jpg file format. Files save in bmp or tiff format, for example, are not supported.

Some WGPX Series models use Secure Digital (SD) cards. These models include the SD card with maps pre loaded. The addition of a memory card to the unit allows more MP3 files and JPEG images to be played and viewed on WGPX series units that offer these features.

WGPX-550 models:
1) Remove and reinstall the SD card. It is possible that the card is not seated properly.
2) If the error indicates that the software can not find "HoluxNavi.exe" or one of its components, click here.
3) If the error indicates that the software can not find "IntellilNavEN.exe" or one of its components, click here.

WGPX-635 and WGPX-650 models:
1) Remove and reinstall the SD card. It is possible that the card is not seated properly.
2) If the error indicates that "No SD Card Installed" and the first step did not correct it, click here.
3) If the error indicates that the software can not find "IntellilNavEN.exe" or one of its components, use the stylus and tap on the reset button on the back of the unit.

On model WGPX-550 if the backlight turns off while the unit is mounted to the cradle and powered through the 12 volt power cord, remove the unit from the cradle and reinstall. Even though the Red charge LED is on, there may be a poor connection to the plug on the cradle. Removing and reinstalling the unit to the cradle will correct this possible poor connection. When the unit is powered with its internal battery, the backlight will turn off to conserve battery life.

Even though some unit's windshield bracket may look like a solid piece, it is designed to be bent to allow proper adjustment to the angle of the vehicle's windshield. Simply place your hands on the smooth area between the suction cup and the unit bracket end and bend it as required to make the unit angle towards the driver.

Very simply - WGPX-500 and 600 series units, tap on the "next turn" icon on the map and the voice will repeat the direction with updated distance to the next turn.

WGPX Series models do not have DGPS capabilities, however models WGPX-550, 635, 650 and 750 do have WAAS capability.

Initialization can take up to 10 minutes with a clear view of the sky. WGPX series models, make sure that the antenna is flipped up and "looking" up towards the sky.

The GPS satellites may on rare occasion broadcast a signal error (Selective Availability) that can account for up to 2.5 mph of movement.

Double check the hold button position, that is under the unit (same side as the power cord jack), and make sure it is in the "Unlock" position. The Hold button prevents accidental button presses and disables the touch screen.

When the DVD is placed into the PC, a dialog box opens giving you the choice to open Media Player (songs, movies etc) or open the file viewer. If Media Player is selected it will play all the voice files for the languages that are available for the GPS unit.

No, the GPS satellites are owned by the United States Department of Defense and have been funded by U.S. taxpayer's dollars. Reception of satellites signals is free to anyone.

SA is an intentionally introduced degradation in the accuracy of civilian GPS by the United States Department of Defense. SA errors can degrade the GPS accuracy up to 100 meters. However, this error is adjustable and random. Typically, errors of 30 meters or more are not unusual. Now that SA has been removed, typical GPS position accuracy is approximately 15 meters (50 feet).

GPS works 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world and is not affected by clouds, storms or weather. This is one of the advantages GPS has over Loran C.

New intellinavEN file needs to be loaded onto the SD card. See the GPS software download page to download the instructions and new files to correct this error. Reloading this file from the DVD will not correct it.

Although the WGPX Series models are battery powered, the battery life is short as compared to hand held GPS units designed for the outdoors. Whistler does not offer hiking specific mapping SW. WGPX Series units were designed to be mounted inside a vehicle and the mounting system is also designed around the inside of a vehicle. The mounting brackets do not offer a method of holding the unit securely in vehicles other than passenger type vehicles.
